"The décor is deluxe open-air mezzanine, amorphous ceiling cutouts aglow with candy-colored neon, curvy bar flanked by VIP-style rounded booths. The clientele is deluxe -- city government power players, TV news celebrities, well-known restaurateurs. Even the drinks are deluxe Veuve Clicquot, Ketel Citron pomegranate martinis, wines ($25 to $70) traversing globe and grape. "

"designer Helen Reed Hayes has created a sleek but warm metropolitan interior that hints at the past in the upholstery, the curving booths and the long, cylindrical shades of the light fixtures. The glowing, color-shifting cutouts in the high ceiling evoke the kind of place George and Jane Jetson might have frequented (and all the retro-futurism that entails), but the pearly tile behind the bar and the glowing gas fireplace are unambiguously 21st century."

"Now it has an upstairs fireplace, stone and glass walls, tile flooring, two enormous concrete bars and a retro-mod interior designed by Helen Reed Hayes, who continues to guide Richmond restaurants into a smarter vision. Scott Corwin and David Johannes are the architects, Michelle Williams and Jared Golden are the operating partners, and ubiquitous Ed Trask paintings will remind diners that they’re still in Richmond, even though the New York-influenced lounge music will suggest elsewhere."
